Abu Dhabi – In a high-scoring thriller at the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2024, Marcus Stoinis and David Wiese showcased exceptional power-hitting to secure a seven-run victory for the Deccan Gladiators over Team Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Batting first, the Gladiators posted a challenging total of 134-5 despite early setbacks, losing four wickets for just 53 runs inside six overs. Stoinis played a pivotal role, smashing 42 off 16 balls, including three boundaries and four sixes. After his dismissal by Noor Ahmad, Wiese carried on the momentum with an unbeaten 42 off just 12 balls, featuring four sixes and four boundaries.

Team Abu Dhabi's chase got off to a promising start, with skipper Phil Salt scoring a brisk 24 off nine balls. Despite reaching 45 inside four overs, they suffered a middle-order collapse, losing three quick wickets. Jonny Bairstow (47 off 20) and Kadeem Alleyne (24 not out off 12) reignited the chase with a rapid 41-run partnership, but they fell short, managing 128-6 in their 10 overs.

The Gladiators' bowlers held their nerve, with Richard Gleeson leading the attack, taking 3-20. Maheesh Theekshana also chipped in with two wickets, while Ibrar Ahmad delivered a tight final over, conceding just seven runs when 14 were needed for victory.

With this win, Deccan Gladiators remain unbeaten and sit comfortably at the top of the points table with three wins in as many games. Team Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, are third, having won one of their three matches so far.
